Hazy Windshield? Here’s What’s Causing It.

Ever clean the inside of your windshield, only to find that it still looks hazy or streaky when the sun hits it? You’re not imagining it—it’s an oily film created by the materials inside your car. Plastics, vinyl, and other interior components can slowly release compounds as they heat up, which can settle onto the inside of your windshield. • Dish washing Detergent: Considering the build up is an oily film, it’s no surprise that a lot of people find success using a kitchen dish soap since they are formulated to break down grease. Add a few drops to some warm water, and clean with a microfiber cloth or glove.
• Magic Eraser: Probably the most controversial option, magic erasers have been said to be very effective removing the haze from windshields. However, a lot of people warn against this, as these sponges are abrasive and, as such, may damage the surface of the glass.

Once you’ve managed to get most the film off, keeping your windshield clear is a much easier task if you make a routine to keep it clean.
